Importance Of Weight Loss

Everyone likes to enjoy good health, and good health is all about eating a balanced diet, regular exercise and sufficient sleep. These are the basic requirements for happiness. In our lives today, however, happiness seems to be the most elusive thing. The world has become a smaller place and we are all interconnected. What happens in one part of the world, affects the other. As a people we are aware of people around the world. People, who are different from us culturally, socially and politically, but people nevertheless, because the great binding factor is our humanness. At the end of the day we feel for each other no matter what the geographic location, and how we feel is echoed around the word. When Obama became President, everyone, but everyone shouted with joy.

What hope, what happiness. When 'Slumdog Millionaire' got a record number of Oscars, the joy was shared across the world from the pub that Boyle frequents to the lowliest slum in Mumbai, India. This interconnectedness, this globalization has brought in its wake stress, and the greatest killer of mankind today is stress - stress at work spilling over into stress at home. We are stressed about how we look, how we feel, our home, our kids, and our husbands. We are stressed by events around the world. We are just plain and simple stressed. The very first casualty of stress is our body, our weight. We start to eat indiscriminately and unscientifically. Result: before we know it, we've put on an inordinate amount of weight. Stress and weight gain happen simultaneously.

When you are under constant stress, there is an increased production of cortisol, which is a hormone that we have in our system. This increase in cortisol, causes the appetite to increase and also causes extra fat to be stored around the abdominal region. This is serious because abdominal fat is directly linked to diabetes, high cholesterol and many other health problems. It is extremely important to deal with stress because stress is a killer. Schedule a massage as often as you can or cut down on working hours and increase time for play and exercise. Many work places today whether they are corporate houses or business houses, have a gym for their employees.

Today the importance of being fit is stressed upon as never before. Worse, we stop feeling good about ourselves and then our life view and world view undergoes a change for the worse. Though there is an ideal weight for every body type, because of our individual differences, we may not have the exact corresponding correct weight that goes with our body type. We must therefore look at a range of body weights, into which we may fit. Aim to keep within this range. Getting enough sleep is crucial for good physical and mental health, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Combine a weight loss programme with sleep deprivation and you have a cranky, depressed, angry and confused person you wouldn't really want around.
